The theme of the Passover this year was “ I Pray That Your Love May abound yet More And More.” The saints truly appeared to be in love with each other . At the direction of the Executive Officer, our new district chorister, St. Nicole Eunick led the choir in the strains of “We’ve traveled over highways”. The preliminaries of the night out of the way, the Lord moved on Evangelist-at-Large Albert E. Hall to pronounce to the church, “Deliverance is on it’s way.” He requested that the church sing “Only Believe”. The sermon was taken from St. Luke 22:1 & Leviticus 23:6. The topic was “Examine yourself”. We were admonished of the importance of this feast. We should have come in ready to keep seven days holy to the Lord. We were reminded of the words of Jesus in St. John 6:53 “Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood ye have no life in you.. Eating the Passover is not enough. Thy that were ready went in and the door was shut. Will you be ready? Examine yourself!
The First Day of Unleavened Bread found the saints rejoicing in the spirit of prophecy. The testimonies were of an overcoming nature and we were truly strengthened yet the Lord has more for us. Evangelist Wesley Grant preached from St. John 6:63. His topic was “Clean the heart”. The Evangelist pointed out that we spent a lot of time cleaning out the closets in our home to free our homes from leaven. But how about our hearts. What amount of time did we spend cleaning our hearts. We can be clean through his word. It is time to become real saints. Help us to hold our peace even when we are right!
The second day of Unleavened Bread was allotted to the Singers of Israel. Chorister,
St. Carla Brown was in charge of the program. The Choir Coordinator, S.E. St.
Anne Marie Grant, installed district Chorister, St. Nicole Eunick. The District
then awarded certificates to singers who had completed 10 and over years of
service in the choir. Elder Paul Honnighan preached a masterful sermon. From
St. Matthew 5:13. Ye are the salt of the earth. He told us that salt not only
flavours, but also it preserves. One does not need a pound of salt to preserve
or flavour a pound of meat. Take from a little what a heap means.
On the Beginning of the Sabbath, following the testimonies of the saints, we
feasted on the word of God from St. John 8:32 "Ye shall know the truth…make
you free." We were admonished to invite Jesus to purge and clean us up
on the inside. Be a new person in Christ Jesus.
The Sabbath of the Lord was truly a day of delight and gladness. The testimonies
of praises to God continued. The choir marched to the glory of God and Evangelist-at-Large
Hall once again broke the bread of life. He took his test from Acts 13 and Galatians
4 Wait on the Lard for you Blessing. We were admonished to exalt ourselves,
but wait on the Lord for our blessings. There are many gifts in the body and
we are al members of the same body. Listen to the voice of God. The letter killeth
but the spirit gives life.
The Sabbath School session saw the presentation of participants in the verse
speaking competition from the various tabernacles making their presentations.
The Fourth Day of Unleavened Bread was allotted to the youth. Truly the Lord has blessed our young people with multiple talents. The songs, recitations and skits were all glorious. The word was ministered by Elder Clifton Scott from I Cor. 1:10. His topic was Unity> He pointed out that there are several areas in which the church needs to become unified, namely; the quotation of the disciples prayer, St. Matt. 6:9-14, throwing a silver offering on feast day and the wearing of the prophet’s pin in the rosette. The church has a standard and it should be maintained. No member should abuse any pastor physically or verbally. The church is here to bring us to perfection. Let us maintain the standard.
The Fifth Day of Unleavened Bread was allotted to the daughters of Israel.
S.E. Almira Reynolds was in charge. The Mothers Sarahs represented their tabernacles
well with the District Mother Sarah, St. Joan Palmer making presentation to
the tabernacles in appreciation of their helpfulness and for the New Year. DMS
Palmer speaking on behalf of the daughters of the Montego Bay tabernacle spoke
of the daughters desire to recommit their lives to the Church of God.
Island Exhorter, S.E. Reynolds took her text from Titus 2:3. Topic-“Are
You A Teacher of Good Things” The daughters were reminded how heavily
the financial aspects of the church rested on them. We should take our duties
seriously. We are working for God. Take care of your husbands and children..
Teach the men how to take care of their wives. Take care of your pastors. Take
care of each other. Love each other. Be teacher of good things.
Our children made our hearts glad on this the sixth day. The little ones truly gave God the highest praise. The ministry of the word came from Elder C. Scott. He took his text from St. Matt.18. This was no ordinary child that Jesus put in the midst. This was a special child, a well-trained child, and a well-behaved child. He admonished our children to be like that child. Let other see the difference in you.
The Seventh and last day was a day of mixed emotions. The ministers gave glory to good for the well-spread table we were able to feast from. Each of them had words of wisdom fro the congregation. Please pray for them that they will be used of God to establish his work. Evanglist-at-Large Hall spoke to us from Acts 3:19-topic “Who Is The Holy Ghost.” If we know the Holy Ghost and are led by him we will please God at all times. He is a teacher and a guide. He will make you humble and obedient. In turn, God will lift you up.
