It is true when the bible says some will come from the east and west and will sit down in God’s Kingdom. And so it was, Saints traveled from one end of the island, some from the middle, others just a few miles to go up to Jerusalem to keep the Feast of the Lord’s Passover.
Just as God commanded the Passover and Seven Days of Unleavened Bread commenced at sunset Abib (April) 14, 2006. At approximately the second hour (8:00 pm) the Shepherd Boys led the Choristers, Singers and then the marching in of the Executive Officer, Evangelist, Elders, Deacons and Sister Ministers.
The night’s programme ensued and then came another soul stirring message from our Executive Officer. This was taken from St. Luke 22:1, where he charged us to be sure that we are ready to eat of the Lord’s Passover.
Day one being preparation day, service was dismissed early but not before we were deliciously fed with the words of God. The scripture lesson in Ephesians 2 reminded us that we are saved by grace through faith and it is the gift of God. Therefore we were no more strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God. Hmmm imagine that, oh what a blessing in Jesus we have found. Elder Clifton Scott in his sermon taken from St. Luke 14:25-27 which spoke profoundly about taking up your own cross and follow Christ (And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple). At sunset we gathered together once more and Elder Zephaniah Johnson taught us about the right. He said as Saints we sometimes find ourselves in places we have no right to be, but we should strive for that right to the tree of life. We went home with those thought provocative words.
Then came the Holy Sabbath Day and we were dressed in full regalia. The scripture lesson was taken from Deuteronomy 28:1-14 where the Lord reminded us of the blessings in store for us if we hearken diligently to his words. After testimonies and sweet songs of Zion, our EO broke the bread of life from 1 Corinthians 7:5 and Romans 7:2-3. Let’s talk about love he said. If we have love then we would not be found defrauding one another, love covers a multitude of sins. It was love that caused God to send His only Begotten Son to die for us. He spoke to married couples in that husbands should compliment their wives. He said they should love each other as long as life last for by doing these things we may have everlasting life. Wives, he said, should work alongside husbands and treat them well, watch the door of your lips that ye may not speak evil, be quick to hear and slow to speak and above all obey their husbands. Truly the Spirit did speak expressly to us and we have much to adhere to God’s words.
Third day was allotted to the Ministers, as it was also Resurrection Date. After the scripture lesson and welcome, the Ministers rendered ‘And they laid him away’ and my Lord what a time we had. The Ministers and Sister Ministers did bless our hearts accordingly.

God did not send his son to die in vain to save those who did not serve him.
Keep God’s commandments and live.
The sermon came from Elder Scott who brought to our remembrance the purpose of the coming of the Prophet.
Again the Ministers prepared a well spread table at their dinner. Have you ever heard that men make better chefs? Well from what we tasted, it could be true.
Fourth day was allotted to the Youths and was cheered by the very capable St. Christopher Campbell of Old Harbour Tabernacle. He gave free advertisements on the Ministers’ Dinner and other goodies being sold. As usual the youths gave their all in songs, dialects and poems. Elder Scott again ministered the word of God, speaking to the youths from Ecclesiastes 11:9 and 11 Timothy 3:22. He charged them to rejoice in the Lord and to flee youthful lust and follow after righteousness.
Fifth day’s programme was cheered by Chorister, St. Carla Brown. The daughters of Jerusalem and Sisters of Mercy certainly gave of their best to the Master. District Officers encouraged the young daughters to attend their services, to be an elect of God, stay in the church for there is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved. Therefore we ought to be as little children in God’s Kingdom. Sermon came from the Island Exhorter, Sister Elder Reynolds. In her discord she charged young daughters to dress appropriately. She read from St. Mark 16:8 and spoke of the importance of the daughters of Jerusalem and Sisters of Mercy in God’s Kingdom. She said we should be obedient, bless and curse not.
On the sixth day the children showed the adults that we are the future church and we will strive to do even greater things. Jesus told us to teach them what he has taught us and on this day they really showed us that they are indeed learning. Sermon came from Elder Scott.
Seventh and last day of unleavened bread came and we marveled at how quickly the days went by. The ministers spoke concerning an on time God who will not be a minute late on that great day. They said we should apply what we have learnt to grow spiritually, be the light and stay in the field until the war is ended. Sermon came from our EO from 1 John 5:7 and the topic was ‘Who is the Holy Ghost? And Is Jesus God? He explained that there are three witnesses in heaven, Father, Word and Holy Ghost and three also in earth, the Blood, water and spirit and they all agree in one. The EO charged us to be taught of God because Jesus promised to send another ‘Comforter’ which is the Holy Spirit of truth. When he is come he will guide us into all truth, for he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear that shall he speak and he will shew you things to come.
After the recess our General Superintendent, Evangelist Whyte, conducted the Sabbath School session. Afterwards we were informed that our CEO Bishop Robert D. Grant, Evan-At-Large Bradshaw and other ministers will be attending the General Assembly which is scheduled for Thaumuz 13-16, 2006. This will be convened at Morant Bay.
We hugged each other as we sang ‘Remember Me,’ after which were dismissed signifying the conclusion of the Passover and Seven Days of Unleavened Bread.
We continue to thank God for his blessings upon the children of Israel.
