HOW IMPORTANT IS HUMAN LIFE?
Exo 20:13 “Thou shalt not kill.”
Jer 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the
belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified
thee,
and I ordained thee a prophet unto
the nations.”
Exo 21:22 “If men strive, and hurt a
woman with child, so that her fruit depart
from her,
and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the
woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.”
The debate continues today regarding the
life of the unborn child. Does the
immediate fusion of the egg and the sperm represent a human being? That was and still continues to be God’s plan
for the population of the earth. This is
how He intended man to carry out His commandment of “be fruitful, multiply and
replenish the earth”.
A punishment was levied on the person who
accidentally caused a woman to lose her unborn child in the days of old. The woman’s husband had a right to exact
punishment upon the offending individual.
Similarly, God through His prophet Jeremiah tells us that even before we
were formed in our mother’s belly, God already knew who and what we would be
and He had a plan for our lives. So the
Sixth Commandment says, “Thou Shalt Not Kill”.
The command applies to the unborn as well.
Psa 139:16 “Thine eyes did see my
substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which
in continuance were fashioned, when as
yet there was none of them.”
Even before the baby is properly formed,
God has already seen it, and has made note of it. He knows every organ, every bone, every
sinew. This is a soul that will come
into the world to do His will. He has a
mission for every unborn child. We were
created for His honour and glory. We are
His to do what He seems best.
Isa
49:1 “Listen,
O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me
from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.”
The prophet Isaiah tells us that he even
knows our names before we come out of our mothers’ womb. What a mighty God. He is God.
He does not need to have us be born before He knows us, but He knows us
even before we are formed. His mission
for every one of us is clear in His own mind.
We may seem unwanted, or unplanned for, but God makes no mistakes. He knows the very moment of conception and He
counts us as human beings from that very point.
Even before that, as we see in the scriptures above.
Let us be careful. When God called Cain to answer for the whereabouts
of his brother Abel, Cain feigned ignorance.
This is the reply God gave him.
Gen 4:9 “And the LORD said unto Cain,
Where
is Abel thy brother? And he said,
I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?
Gen 4:10 And he said, What hast thou
done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
Gen 4:11 And now
art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened
her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;”
Similarly a curse is upon everyone who
takes the life of an unborn child. You
see you are stopping the reproduction cycle.
You are going against His commandments. Your hands are too short to box
with God.
